Global healthcare has never been under so much pressure to deliver and innovate to provide effective patient care at affordable costs to an ever increasing and ageing population. Accurate and cost-effective biosensors are expected to play a crucial role in the roll-out of Point-of-Care testing: diagnosing patients at the point of need rather than in a medical facility, reducing the time to diagnosis and increasing patient care.
Integrated photonics for next-gen biosensing
Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) are one of the technological breakthroughs that can contribute to this rapidly growing and fast changing demand. PhotonDelta, the industry accelerator for integrated photonics, has therefore created a roadmap for integrated photonic biosensors in collaboration with doctors, industry and ecosystem partners. The roadmap provides the guidance to accelerate the present activities towards successful commercial application.
