About hollandbio’s Dutch Biotech Event

The program features inspiring talks by keynote speakers on biotech and entrepreneurship, followed by workshops and break-out sessions that contribute to your personal development and that of your company. In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities for networking during the break, drinks and BBQ.

Who can join the Dutch Biotech Event?

The Dutch Biotech Event welcomes hollandbio members (registration free of charge) as well as employees of other biotech R&D companies (registration fee €395,- p.p.), with a maximum of 3 delegates per organization.

We invite non-member startups to consider a hollandbio membership, which besides access to the network & events, offers many more advantages.

Keynote speakers

Peter Rowe Co-founder & CEO of Deep Branch

Pete is a dynamic entrepreneur spearheading sustainable innovation in food technology. With a background in biotechnology, he is committed to addressing global challenges in food security and environmental sustainability. Deep Branch has pioneered a groundbreaking technology platform, converting carbon dioxide into high-value protein through an innovative fermentation processes. Pete is responsible for the company’s strategy, developing relationships across the company’s value chain and speaking on behalf of the company to a broad range of stakeholders. Pete has been recognised by Forbes Magazine, MIT Technology Review and the Financieele Dagblad as a leading young entrepreneur, due to his dedication and impact to create a more sustainable and resilient food system through biotechnology. Pete’s vision for a future food system centres around technology and innovation drive positive change, enabling nutritious, sustainable, ethical and local food production for everyone.

Sander van Deventer Co-founder & CEO of VectorY

Sander is a co-founder of VectorY and has 25 years of experience in drug development. He had a critical role in the development of the first commercial monoclonal antibody (Remicade) and the first gene therapy to be granted market authorization in the Western world (Glybera). Sander is also co-founder of Forbion, a leading life science venture capital firm where he is currently an Operating Partner. In 1998 he co-founded Amsterdam Molecular Therapeutics (AMT N.V.), currently uniQure N.V. (NASDAQ: QURE), an AAV-based gene therapy company, acting subsequently as CSO, CMO and CEO. He also served as CEO of Dezima. In 2017, he re-joined uniQure as its part-time CSO where he brought the hemophilia B and Huntington’s disease programs to clinical development. Sander is a former professor of Experimental Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Amsterdam Academic Medical Center and of Translational Gastroenterology at the University of Leiden. He authored over 80 book chapters, 600 peer-reviewed papers, organized international scientific conferences, and supervised more than 40 PhD students. He served on the boards of Hookipa, Engene, Borean, Dezima, Argos, and the scientific advisory boards of Hookipa, Argos, Engene and Staten.

Pitch a winning story

Success depends on your ability to pitch a winning story—to raise funding, grow a successful business, and make the world a healthier place. But what is a story, and how do you pitch one that conveys your company’s unique value to investors? In this interactive workshop, you will learn the key principles for turning your complex technology into a winning story and how to apply them to your next pitch. One lucky participant will be selected to pitch their story on stage and receive feedback from pitch coach Giuseppe Marzio, founder and managing director of Chiaro and author of 2022 Amazon bestseller “Winners Have a Story“.

Biotech financing trends: first past the post 

What are the current financing trends and tendencies in de biotech investment landscape? Is there any mountain high enough? Are we being send into the woods or drowning at sea? In this session, Robert-Jan van de Vorm, Director Corporate Finance at Van Lanschot Kempen, will take you on a tour on the bumpy road of biotech financing. Gain insights from investors and other biotech entrepreneurs and share your thoughts with our panel of experts consisting of Robert-Jan van der Vorm, Lisanne Blauw (Thuja Capital) and Bas Oosterman (SentryX).
