Biotech for a sustainable future
Hollandbio24/05/22
HollandBIO is excited to kick off our first national dedicated event for the agri-, food and industrial biotech sector, on Tuesday the 24th of May, live in Utrecht! In addition to ample networking opportunity, our guest speakers will share their vision on the role of biotechnology for a future proof earth, starting in the Netherlands. After the plenary program, the good vibes continue during a networking dinner.
Plenary program
- Peter Rowe – CEO and founder of the fast-growing biotechnology start-up Deep Branch, founded with a shared desire to make a positive impact on the world. Deep Branch is on a mission to redefine traditional animal feed ingredients and improve the efficiency, profitability, and sustainability of the animal nutrition industry. By harnessing the power of microbes, Deep Branch’s proprietary CO₂-to-protein platform converts clean carbon dioxide and hydrogen into high-quality ingredients to support a more sustainable food system.
- Roald Lapperre – Director-General for the Environment and International Affairs within the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Ministry overseeing the Dutch biotechnology policy. Roald works with (inter)national climate policies, sustainability and environmental affairs and will share the perspective of our national government on the role of biotechnology for a sustainable future.
- Natascha Kooiman – “Sustainability Rebel”, founder of Smaackmakers and one of the quartermasters (core team) of the Food transition Coalition, a multi-stakeholder coalition of Dutch fruntrunners in the field of agriculture, food, nature and health who strive to shape and speed up the necessary transition in the global agrifood system.
