February 21 sees the National Associations Council Presidency Summit dedicated to Belgium Presidency – ‘Made in Belgium for Europe’. The online event brings together significant representatives of the Belgian ecosystem, including government and EuropaBio members, to drive legislative priorities across sectors. Whether it’s microorganisms revolutionising manufacturing or advanced therapies for rare disease patients, biotechnology is leading the way, and Belgium is on it. - 10:00 – 11:00, Panel I – advanced therapies for rare diseases. We will host Thomas Van Cangh (Cabinet of Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo), Dr Philippe De Backer (Newton Biocapital, Former MEP and Belgium Minister), Jérôme Van Biervliet (VIB) and Eric Halioua (PDC*Line Pharma). Moderation by Tineke Van hooland (Bio.be/essenscia and our NAC Chair).
- 11:00 – 12:00, Panel II – microorganisms for agrifood applications. Joined by Jens Boyen (Belgium PermRep to the EU), Dr Barna Kovacs (Hungarian PermRep to the EU & BIOEAST Initiative), Hendrik Waegeman (Bio-Base Europe Pilot Plant), Isabel Vercauteren (Aphea.bio) and Sofia Morais (Puratos).
